The Whipman is an annual summer festival held in the village of West Linton, and is one of the Scottish Borders' oldest festivals. The festival commences on the Friday before the first Saturday in June, and runs until the following Saturday. The Whipman Play Society was formed in 1803 by local young men to alleviate hardship and illness for its members and in the community at large 42 years before the Poor Law Amendment (Scotland) Act, 1845 and possibly before the first insurance company in Scotland.

At tonights Concert at the Graham Institute, Whipman President Raymond Nicol sashed Whipman Elect, Frank Lethbridge, and Whipman's Lass Elect, Jane Lethbridge.

A number is drawn at random and the winner receives 50% of the "pot", prize money currently stands at £100!

The cost is only £1 per number, per month.  50% of the monthly income goes as prize money and 50% goes to Whipman funds  to assist with the general running of Whipman Week.

You can either pay by cash or complete a standing order for the money to be debited from your bank account every month or, the simpler way, once per year, there is no limit to how many numbers you can have.
